In 1951 the Catalan delegation of the then Spanish Mountaineering Federation set up the old Hostal de la Font del Faig as a refuge, located in a strategic enclave at the foot of the Pendís pass. Some time later, the precarious state of the building led the owners to give the FEEC a neighboring plot to erect a new shelter. Thanks to the financial support of the Barcelona Provincial Council, a facility was built that was inaugurated in October 1961. Although the architectural structure of the building has been maintained – in fact it is the same as in the Estanys de la Pera and Serra refuges d'Ensija- currently Sant Jordi is a very cozy and comfortable refuge. The refuge is a crossing point for the Cavalls del Vent, Alta Ruta del Cadí, Montañas Mágicas and Camí dels Bons Homes routes. Likewise, the access through the PR-C 125, a beautiful excursion that runs through the Empedrats, the old royal road of La Cerdanya, following the spectacular and narrow valley of the Pendís river, is a totally recommendable experience. As for the ascents, the star of the area is the Peñas Altas del Moixeró (2,276 m), the most charismatic peak of the Sierra de Moixeró.
